Malaysia and Singapore

For medical students in Malaysia and Singapore: UK-linked degrees, the UKMLA and a daily habit

Malaysia and Singapore both have medical schools with UK roots. If you study at one, or plan to finish your training in the UK, the UKMLA content map matters to you.

Malaysia

Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) is Newcastle University's Malaysian campus, and its MBBS is a Newcastle degree. Malaysian graduates then complete compulsory housemanship in government hospitals before full registration with the Malaysian Medical Council.

The UK's Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act 2026 counts where most of your training took place. Graduates who trained mostly outside the UK, including at overseas campuses of UK universities, are not in the priority groups for UK Foundation Programme places. CodeBlue reported in May 2026 that NUMed's 2026 applicants were placed on the reserve list.

Singapore

Singapore has three medical schools. NUS and NTU's Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine run five-year MBBS programmes, and Duke-NUS runs a four-year graduate-entry MD. Lee Kong Chian was founded by NTU with Imperial College London, and from the August 2024 intake its MBBS is awarded by NTU alone.

WardRun is a free daily run of single best answer questions mapped to the 2026 UKMLA content map, with the key point after every answer and a ranking against your own medical school. For students on a UK degree it is direct UKMLA practice. For everyone else it is a daily habit of clinical reasoning, written to UK guidance.
